Key Technology for Bearing Manufacture(1)

Modern technique of simulation develops rapidly along with the wide application of computer. Detailed practice of the technique is to simultaneously input the load direction, magnitude, lubricating mode, rotating speed and environmental parameter of the bearings under working condition into computer. Then calculate to find out the life the bearings can reach,and finally evaluate whether the bearing design is applicable. The test method can greatly shrink test time and reducemanpower and test capital. Application effect of the bearing can be known in advance before the bearing manufacture is finished. So it is a swift and save sorry method. Advanced oversea bearing industry companies like SKF and NTN has reached advanced standards on research on bearing test technique of simulation.

Development trend at home and abroad

There are mainly four bearing test methods at home and abroad: one, frictional wear test; two, test bench test; three,laboratory (proving ground) analog test; four, actual working condition operating test. The above test methods are all applied abroad, but the application purposes are different. For instance, when launching a bran-new product, frictional wear test should be done at first. If frictional wear modes change little and only the product dimension and load condition change, test bench test, analog test and actual operating test are enough. The examination of new products (such as car bush bearing etc.) for some key positions is very strict abroad, and they are permitted to be used in a kit only after being tested in actual operating test. The SKF in Sweden and the NTN in Japan recently do research on bearing test technique of simulation, which can only replace bench, analog or experiment to shorten product design time and accelerate product development process. But there is a gap between actual operating situation and situation at present. Luoyang Bearing Research Institute is the only one to launch frictional wear test in bearing industry of our country at present. There are many units launching bearing bench test in our country at present, they are respectively Luoyang Bearing Research Institute, Shanghai Bearing Research Institute, Hangzhou Bearing Research Center and more than 20 state-owned enterprises in Wafangdian and Harbin. Units who can launch analog test include Luoyang Bearing Research Institute, Hangzhou Bearing Research Institute and enterprises, such as Wafangdian Bearing Group Corporation, Xiangfan Bearing Group Corporation etc. Test can be actually done by bearing producing enterprises when matched host machine enterprises raise requirements on this respect, such as railway carriage wheel to bearing and car bush bearing etc. Generally speaking, analog test and actual operating test are not widely launched in our country, so host machine range or actual working condition range should be enlarged further to prepare software and hardware for bring up simulation test on the agenda.

Primary research coverage and objectives

To do simulation test, bench test or analog test should be done on some typical products of representative style to find out the functional relationship between load, working condition and bearing life. Then use the relationship to do bearing design and test work by computer. These tests are usually applied on those products of vital importance. According to the existing capacity of our country, our primary objectives with in the next decade is to do simulation test research on railway vehicle bearing, automobile bush bearing and high speed grinding machine main shaft bearing and be provided with certain simulation test condition. The research coverage is as follow:

• establish simulation system on analog test of railway vehicle, automobile bush bearing and machine tool main shaft.

• find out the mathematic model of railway, vehicle, automobile bush and grinding machine main shaft bearing through typical experimental data.

• compile software for computer emulation system.
